Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on September 25, 2025, to comment on ongoing political and economic issues, including a potential government shutdown and trade policy.

In a post made at 15:36 UTC, Alford attributed responsibility for a possible federal government closure to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Party. Later that day at 18:19 UTC, Alford commented on U.S. tariff policy and its impact on agriculture under former President Donald Trump. He stated, " The Art of the Deal: Tariffs WORK. Alford has represented Missouri's 4th District since 2023 after succeeding Vicky Hartzler. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently resides in Lake Winnebago. Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
