Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on September 25, 2025, to comment on ongoing political and economic issues, including a potential government shutdown and trade policy.

In a post made at 15:36 UTC, Alford attributed responsibility for a possible federal government closure to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Party. He wrote, "If the government shuts down, it’s the SCHUMER SHUTDOWN! Here’s what Democrats are holding hostage for their radical $1.5 TRILLION wish list https://t.co/7YP5PVf9VP".

Later that day at 18:19 UTC, Alford commented on U.S. tariff policy and its impact on agriculture under former President Donald Trump. He stated, " The Art of the Deal: Tariffs WORK. Like we’ve been saying: short term pain for long term gain. And President Trump will use the ~$30 BILLION per month in revenue to make our ag producers whole in the meantime. Thank you for putting farmers first, @POTUS! https://t.co/qim68At8P4".
