Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to comment on government spending and local law enforcement funding in late September 2025.

On September 25, Alford criticized Democratic lawmakers’ proposed budget, stating: "BOO: October is approaching and the Left is weaving a web of woke with this $1.5 trillion wish list. @HouseGOP is fighting to end the handouts, reckless spending, and avoid a government shutdown!" Later that day, he announced progress on local police resources: "Through committee-passed bills, we have secured $120,000 for new police radios for the Peculiar Police Dept. One step closer to stronger resources for our law enforcement officers."

The following morning, on September 26, Alford reiterated his criticism of the budget proposal and addressed potential government shutdown concerns: " The Left’s $1.5 TRILLION wish list is nothing but waste, handouts & reckless spending. If the government shuts down, it’s the #SchumerShutdown, plain & simple. @HouseGOP will always fight for YOU, not their radical agenda."

Alford has served as Missouri’s 4th District representative since 2023 after succeeding Vicky Hartzler. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and resides in Lake Winnebago. Alford earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
