Mizzou tennis records strong results through two days at Husker Invitational

Mizzou tennis completed the second day of competition at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Saturday, September 27. The Tigers have accumulated a total of 16 wins over two days against teams from Nebraska, Kansas State, Illinois, Iowa State, and Wichita State.

On the first day of play, Missouri secured nine victories. Six of these came in singles matches. Sophomores Zoe Lazar and Gian Octa won their doubles match against Kansas State with a score of 6-0. Freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore transfer Julie Bedard claimed a close win over Nebraska, finishing 7-6 (4). Another doubles victory was earned by sophomore Korina Roso and graduate transfer Michelle Kleynerman against Iowa State (6-1).

In singles competition on day one, six different Tigers recorded wins. Octa and Ackman each won in straight sets; freshman Jenna Kleynerman also secured a straight-set victory. Michelle Kleynerman, Roso, and Lazar all prevailed in three-set matches.

On the second day of the tournament, Missouri added seven more wins to its tally. Both doubles victories were achieved by the pairing of Michelle Kleynerman and Korina Roso. In singles play on Saturday, Mary Brumfield, Roso, Julie Bedard, and Jenna Kleynerman all won their matches in straight sets. Zoe Lazar came back after losing her first set to win her match 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Missouri will conclude its participation in the Husker Invitational on Sunday in Lincoln.
