Senator Eric Schmitt, representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate, made a series of posts on his social media account in early October 2025 addressing topics including government shutdowns, border security, and urban violence.

On October 2, 2025, Schmitt wrote: "FACT: Democrats shut down the government to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants."

The following day, on October 3, he commented on border security and the actions of the current and former presidents. He stated: "The Biden admin willingly handed control of our southern border over to the cartels. Now, President Trump is on the scene and he's treating them as they should be which is terrorists."

Later that same day, Schmitt addressed urban crime and societal issues. He posted: "The violence in our cities is not a result of 'socioeconomic conditions.' It is the result of a civilization that has lost its moral nerve. A civilization that is too racked by guilt to punish its criminals, enforce its laws or confront its enemies. It's time to restore order."

Schmitt's statements come amid ongoing debates about immigration policy and law enforcement approaches in major U.S. cities. As a sitting member of Congress since 2023 and former Attorney General of Missouri, Schmitt has been an outspoken critic of Democratic policies related to border management and criminal justice reform.
