Rep. Mark Alford, U.S. Congressman for Missouri’s 4th district, posted a series of messages on October 7, 2025, addressing government funding debates and agricultural challenges in his district.

In a post criticizing Democratic lawmakers for the current budget impasse, Alford wrote on October 7: "Democrats built this crisis themselves, they wrote the expiration date for these COVID-era Obamacare credits. Now they’re holding America hostage and trying to distract. Pass the clean CR. Open the government. Stop the spin. #SchumerShutdown".

Later that day, Alford highlighted his visit to a local farm: " Out on the Lehman family farm in Morgan County — a Missouri legacy dating back to 1897."

He followed up with another message describing the challenges faced by farmers in his district: "Brian Lehman and his family are the backbone of our district: growing corn, soybeans, wheat, and raising cattle. But like so many in MO-04, they’re feeling the squeeze right now: historically high yield, high input costs, low commodity prices, and market uncertainty are all".

Mark Alford has represented Missouri’s 4th District since 2023 after succeeding Vicky Hartzler. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and resides in Lake Winnebago. Alford earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
