Rep. Mark Alford, U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, posted several messages on his social media account on October 7, 2025. The posts included commentary on the ongoing government shutdown and reflections on small-town values.

In a post made at 20:31 UTC, Alford wrote, "One WEEK into probably the most unnecessary government shutdown in history — all because Schumer and the Left would rather save face and fund illegals than stand up for YOU.

America sees right through it. OPEN the government back up, Chuck. #SchumerShutdown https://t.co/2ZVPFqoQXY"

Later that day, Alford shared two identical messages celebrating small-town pride, first at 20:47 UTC and again at 21:06 UTC. In both posts, he stated, "This is what small-town pride looks like: faith, freedom, patriotism, and community on full display. Come take a drive down Main Street and see it for yourself!" The same message was repeated in another post: "This is what small-town pride looks like: faith, freedom, patriotism, and community on full display. Come take a drive down Main Street and see it for yourself!"

Mark Alford succeeded Vicky Hartzler as the representative of Missouri’s 4th district in Congress in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963, Alford currently resides in Lake Winnebago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
