Senator Eric Schmitt, representing Missouri, recently made several statements on his social media account addressing issues of national security, law enforcement, and legislative actions in the U.S. Senate.

On October 9, 2025, Schmitt posted a message referencing ongoing debates in Congress: "Who Said It? Schumer Shutdown edition." The tweet alludes to discussions around a potential government shutdown and invokes the name of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

In another post dated October 10, 2025, Senator Schmitt highlighted Missouri's significance in matters of national defense: "Missouri is a key player when it comes to our national security. I'm proud to say we just passed the NDAA in the Senate in order to continue our efforts to keep America safe." The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual piece of legislation that outlines budgetary and policy priorities for the U.S. Department of Defense. Missouri is home to several military installations and defense contractors that contribute to both state and national security initiatives.

Later that same day, Senator Schmitt expressed support for former President Donald Trump and took a firm stance on law enforcement: "You're either on the side of law and order or you're for chaos and anarchy. President Trump is doing the right thing." This statement reflects ongoing partisan debates over public safety measures and political leadership.

Senator Eric Schmitt has served as one of Missouri’s U.S. Senators since January 2023. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, he was Missouri’s Attorney General.
