Senator Eric Schmitt, representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate, made several statements on his social media account regarding ongoing political issues and domestic security concerns.

On October 10, 2025, Schmitt commented on the ongoing government shutdown by stating, "Welcome to Schumer Shutdown Day 10. 7 votes for a government shutdown. 0 votes for the American people." On the same day, he addressed concerns about left-wing groups by posting, "The Antifa networks are Foreign Terrorist Organizations and they should be designated as such."

Continuing his criticism of mainstream narratives around political violence, Schmitt wrote on October 11, 2025: "For years, media elites told us that 'right-wing political violence' is America’s great domestic extremist threat. Even today, they continue to cite the same handful of studies to 'prove' that this is true. But those 'studies' are bunk. I’m asking DOJ to fix this."

Schmitt's remarks come during a period of heightened partisanship in Congress and ongoing debates over the causes and definitions of domestic extremism. The designation of organizations as foreign terrorist entities falls under federal authority and has been subject to debate in recent years.
