Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on his official Twitter account on October 10, 2025, focusing on the impact of the ongoing government shutdown and concerns from his constituents.
In a post highlighting a recent visit to a local recovery home, Alford wrote: "Even during the Schumer Shutdown, we’re staying focused on what matters most: PEOPLE. In Adrian, Missouri, I visited Lily’s House, a faith-based recovery home that’s helped more than 40 mothers and 100 children find hope, healing, and a second chance. Lives are being changed" (October 10, 2025).
Addressing comments made by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer regarding the shutdown's political implications for Democrats, Alford posted: "Chuck Schumer tells the media, 'every day gets better' for Democrats. REALITY CHECK: AMERICANS ARE CONCERNED." (October 10, 2025).
Alford also referenced feedback from his constituents about the effects of the shutdown. He stated: "While taking constituent calls this week, we’ve heard COUNTLESS concerns about our military going unpaid, federal employees furloughed, and WIC recipients left to fend for themselves. All so the Left can give YOUR money to illegal aliens. Listen to concerned MO-04 constituent " (October 10, 2025).
Mark Alford has served as Missouri’s representative in Congress since replacing Vicky Hartzler in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago at age 59, Alford holds a BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
