Rep. Mark Alford, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, has posted several updates on his social media regarding what he refers to as the “Schumer Shutdown,” highlighting its ongoing impact on federal workers and communities.

On October 10, 2025, Alford announced a new newsletter release with the message: "NEW NEWSLETTER OUT TODAY! LATEST on the Schumer Shutdown. SUBSCRIBE NOW: https://t.co/K710LuWCns https://t.co/qg1q8ZYDkE".

The following day, October 11, 2025, Alford addressed the continued effects of the shutdown in another post: "Day 11. Our troops, border patrol, and federal workers are STILL left behind — all because Democrats are holding the government hostage to fund illegal alien health care. Enough is enough. #SchumerShutdown https://t.co/XZRfoR115O".

Later that same day, he promoted a live episode of his Capitol Recap series: " NEW: Capitol Recap E38, LIVE NOW! The Schumer Shutdown explained by Speaker Johnson Visits to rural hospitals: PEOPLE ARE FEELING THE PAIN FROM SCHUMER’S PRIDE Small biz spotlight: Larry’s Clock Shop is sick of the Left’s games https://t.co/T8Qn6Ohw3j".

Alford’s comments come amid ongoing partisan disputes over government funding. He attributes responsibility for the shutdown to Democratic lawmakers and specifically references funding for health care for undocumented immigrants as a point of contention.

Alford was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently resides in Lake Winnebago. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
