Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media over the weekend addressing federal funding for military personnel, congressional priorities amid a government shutdown, and personal reflections on faith.

On October 11, 2025, Alford expressed gratitude to former President Donald Trump for actions he said would ensure payment for military members during an ongoing government shutdown. "Thank you to @realDonaldTrump for ensuring our troops get paid next week! The Schumer Shutdown is devastating for federal workers, veterans, and small businesses, but I know this move will give our soldiers at Fort Leonard Wood and airmen and Whiteman AFB peace of mind. Later that day, Alford commented on legislative gridlock in Washington while highlighting his visit to a local school. On October 11 he wrote: "While Democrats stall in Washington with the #SchumerShutdown this week, we are staying focused on what matters most — our next generation. It was an honor to visit Heartland Christian School in Belton to talk with students about the Constitution and how Congress works. https://t.co/UlztEGvl2r".

In a separate post on October 12, Alford shared a religious message: "Even when we fall short… He doesn’t. Even when we drift, doubt, or disobey, God’s character stays the same. His faithfulness isn’t conditional on our performance; it’s anchored in His perfect nature. When you feel like you’ve failed Him too many times, remember this: God https://t.co/VU15hactnK".
