Two days later, on October 13, 2025, he marked the U.S. Navy's birthday with a message that read, "Defending our freedoms at sea since 1775 Happy birthday to the @USNavy! https://t.co/jy5coxqc8p".

Later that same day, Schmitt commented on the reunion of families with loved ones who had been held captive for over two years. He wrote, "This historic day would not have been possible without President Trump’s leadership. Today we celebrate with the families who are finally reunited with their loved ones who were held captive for over two years. https://t.co/5ODF4LDWU7".

Senator Schmitt has previously served as Missouri’s Attorney General before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2022. The U.S. Navy, referenced in his October 13 post, was established in 1775 and is recognized as one of the principal branches of the United States Armed Forces.

The mention of President Trump in Schmitt’s October 13 message refers to former President Donald J. Trump, who has remained an influential figure within the Republican Party and U.S. politics since leaving office in January 2021.
