Mizzou tennis completed the second day of the ITA Central Regional Championship on October 17, with two players advancing to the singles main draw round of 32. Graduate student Mary Brumfield and sophomore Korina Roso will continue in the tournament as play resumes.
In doubles competition, two Missouri Tigers pairs reached the round of 16. Sophomores Zoe Lazar and Korina Roso defeated Dodik and Dookie from Missouri State. Meanwhile, Brumfield teamed up with senior Andrea Artimedi to win against Kenzhibayeva and McCarty of UMKC. Both matches ended with an 8-4 score.
Other doubles matches saw senior Michelle Kleynerman and sophomore Julie Bedard lose to Roselli and Xin Tong of Wichita State. Freshman Alex Ackman and sophomore Gian Octa were defeated by Xu and Kranholdt of Iowa in consolation doubles, 8-2.
Lazar and Roso competed in the round of 16 but lost to Nebraska’s Rizzetto and Raidt, 8-6. Brumfield and Artimedi also exited after a loss to Ounmang and Buchnik of Oklahoma, 8-4.
In singles play, Brumfield won over Natalia Trigosso of Nebraska (6-3, 7-6 [3]), while Roso beat Anet Koskel from Arkansas (6-3, 7-6 [6]). Octa was eliminated by Pavlechova of Arkansas after qualifying for the main draw. Kleynerman fell to Nahum of Oklahoma.

Looking ahead, Brumfield and Roso will compete in the singles main draw round of 32 starting at 9 a.m. CT tomorrow. The schedule for day three includes singles consolation matches, singles main draw round of 16, and doubles quarterfinals.
