Rep. Mark Alford, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, posted a series of messages on his official social media account addressing both religious themes and ongoing political issues in early November 2025.

On November 2, Alford shared a message centered on faith, writing, "This verse assures us that Jesus will not reject anyone who comes to him because his mission is to do the Father's will, which includes giving eternal life to all who believe. May we always live in the joy of knowing that our hope for everlasting life is secure in Jesus."

The following day, Alford turned his attention to federal government matters. On November 3, he commented on the ongoing government shutdown with two posts. In the first post he stated, " DAY 34 of the Schumer Shutdown. Families, farmers, and service members are paying the price… Because the Senate won’t do its job. " Later that same day he added, "34 days of America held hostage by the Schumer Shutdown. Pharaoh Schumer, it’s time to set the American people free. Pass the clean CR!"

Alford's comments reference an extended period during which parts of the federal government were shut down due to unresolved budget negotiations in Congress—a situation commonly referred to as a "shutdown." The term "clean CR" refers to a continuing resolution without additional policy provisions or controversial amendments that would allow government funding to resume.

Background information shows that Mark Alford succeeded Vicky Hartzler as representative for Missouri’s 4th district in 2023 and has been active in public discourse both on legislative and community issues since then. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
