Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann | City of Columbia
On February 27, 2024, Engineering Surveys & Services, acting on behalf of Burrell, Inc., submitted a request for the approval of a rezoning project in Columbia. The proposal aims to rezone a 1.03-acre property on 107 Texas Avenue from M-OF (Mixed Use Office) to PD (Planned Development) to facilitate the development of a new building.
The request includes an associated statement of intent, preliminary plat, and PD plan named Phoenix House, which is planned to be situated on both 90 E Leslie Lane and 107 Texas Avenue. This development would allow for the construction of an additional 7,500 square foot building on the site. The subject property, spanning 4.88 acres, is positioned south of the intersection at Newton Drive & E Leslie Lane, with an address at 90 E Leslie Lane.
In light of this proposal, a public hearing has been scheduled for March 21, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. before the City of Columbia’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The hearing will take place in the City Council Chambers located at 701 East Broadway. Citizens and other interested parties are encouraged to attend the hearing to voice their opinions on the rezoning request.
Those seeking additional information about the project are advised to contact (573) 874-7239, as indicated in the notice of the public hearing. The Chairperson of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Sharon Geuea-Jones, will preside over the hearing.
The proposed rezoning project in Columbia has sparked interest and concerns within the community. All stakeholders are urged to participate in the upcoming public hearing to contribute to the discussion on the potential development of Phoenix House and the associated rezoning of the properties on Texas Avenue and E Leslie Lane.
