U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt expressed gratitude for President Trump's approval of federal disaster aid following severe storms in the St. Louis area in May. The aid, facilitated by FEMA, aims to assist affected communities in their recovery efforts.

"Thank you, President Trump! This critical assistance will help those affected by last month’s storm get back on their feet. We worked closely with the White House to expedite this process and ensure assistance reaches those who so desperately need it. Although this is just the beginning of the rebuilding process, I’m thankful for President Trump’s leadership and commitment to helping Missourians," stated Senator Schmitt.

The disaster declaration follows a request made by Senators Schmitt and Josh Hawley to President Trump on May 21, urging action on Governor Mike Kehoe's declarations after the storm hit on May 16. On June 9, it was confirmed that both individual and public assistance would be provided across Missouri.

Jurisdictions receiving Individual Assistance include Scott County, St. Louis County, and the City of St. Louis. These areas will also receive Public Assistance.

President Trump's declaration enables direct funding to impacted communities and unlocks additional recovery support from federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Small Business Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Residents in Scott County, St. Louis County, and the City of St. Louis can apply for assistance through FEMA online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Central Time. Alternatively, they can use the FEMA app for applications.
