Boone County Recorder of Deeds Bob Nolte has issued a warning to residents regarding a trend involving mailed solicitations labeled "Recorded Deed Notice." These notices are crafted to look official but have no connection with Boone County Government. They aim to deceive recipients into paying more than $120 for information that is publicly accessible.

Nolte emphasizes that these solicitations are not affiliated with any government entity and advises citizens to be cautious when receiving such notices.

"These mailings are designed to appear as though they are from an official source, but they are not," Nolte stated. He further explained that the information being sold is already available to the public at no cost or for a nominal fee through legitimate government channels.

Residents who receive these notices are encouraged to verify their authenticity by contacting the Boone County Recorder's office directly. This step can help prevent unnecessary payments for information that can be obtained legally and affordably.

The Boone County Recorder's office remains committed to ensuring that citizens have access to accurate and reliable information regarding property records and other public documents.
