The Boone County Commission is set to conduct a public hearing on the Solar Energy Overlay District (SEOD) regulations. This follows efforts by the Boone County Resource Management Department and the Boone County Planning and Zoning Commission, which began in 2022, to develop these regulations.

After several joint work sessions to draft the initial regulations, the Planning and Zoning Commission held public hearings on October 20, November 2, and December 8 of 2022. Feedback from these meetings was reviewed and incorporated into the draft where appropriate.

On June 15, 2023, the Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously voted to recommend approval of the proposed regulations to the Boone County Commission. The upcoming public hearing aims to gather further input from residents before any final decisions are made.

The County Commission may also organize work sessions with Resource Management staff before scheduling a vote on the SEOD regulations.
