Jacqueline Emerson, a licensed practical nurse at Chariton Valley Family Medicine, part of Moberly Regional Medical Center, has been awarded the national 2025 Nursing Excellence Award. Emerson is one of ten winners chosen from hospitals affiliated with Community Health Systems, a leading healthcare provider in the United States.
Community Health Systems operates healthcare delivery systems across 36 markets in 14 states, including Moberly Regional Medical Center and 69 other hospitals. Emerson was recognized during a presentation with hospital leadership at the Chariton Valley Family Medicine clinic in Salisbury, Missouri. She received a crystal plaque, a cash award, and additional gifts.
“Jacqueline demonstrates care and compassion through her daily activities at work,” said Lindy Breshears, family nurse practitioner at Chariton Valley Family Medicine. “She works diligently to get them scheduled for diagnostic testing that fits into their schedules. She spends time talking to patients about their daily lives as she can easily connect with them on a personal level as well. Patients know Jacqueline and they love her. They call the clinic asking for Jacqueline specifically.”
The Nursing Excellence Award program was established in 2020 during the "Year of the Nurse" to acknowledge nurses' efforts and sacrifices amid the COVID pandemic. This peer-nominated award recognizes nurses for outstanding care, compassion, service, innovation, teamwork, mentorship, leadership during crises, and community health promotion.
“Jacqueline demonstrates her ability to be a team player as she has stepped into several roles when needed under her scope of practice,” Breshears stated in the nomination form. “She will complete tasks for the front staff, complete tasks for other nurses, and fill in for staff in other clinics. She is a great mentor for other nurses as she has a strong work ethic with safe and efficient practices.”
Emerson began working at Moberly Regional Medical Center in July 2012 and joined Chariton Valley Family Medicine clinic in 2014 after serving as a pediatric nurse and cardiology nurse at other affiliated clinics. Her community health promotion efforts include organizing "Community Helper’s Day" with local preschools. In 2023, she was named clinical employee of the quarter.
