Representative Mark Alford, who has served Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, shared updates on legislative activities related to national security and foreign aid via a series of posts on July 15, 2025. The tweets focused on ongoing appropriations work and highlighted priorities in defense spending and global health initiatives.

In a post dated July 15, 2025, Alford discussed his remarks at the House Appropriations Committee's National Security, State, and Related Programs markup session. He stated, "We're responsibly transitioning PEPFAR to partner states to ensure long-term success without reversing the decades of success and progress that we have seen in the global fight against AIDS."

Later that day, Alford announced progress in committee action on appropriations legislation. On July 15, 2025, he posted that the House Appropriations Committee's National Security, State, and Related Programs had advanced their bill to the full committee. According to his tweet: "PASSED: @HouseAppropsGOP National Security, State, and Related Programs advanced our bill to the full Committee to: Defund woke USAID projects Responsibly invest in our allies through National Security Investment programs Save taxpayer money by responsibly cutting 22%."

In a subsequent post on July 15, 2025, Alford called for continued support for military personnel as legislative work progressed. He wrote: "Let’s get this done for our troops, @HouseAppropsGOP !"

Mark Alford succeeded Vicky Hartzler in representing Missouri’s 4th district beginning in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford holds a BA from the University of Texas at Austin.
