Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on July 18, 2025, that he has introduced a resolution to recognize the achievements of the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings for their role in Operation Midnight Hammer.
In a tweet posted at 17:08 UTC, Alford stated: "Proud to introduce a resolution to recognize the 509th and 131st Bomb Wings' successful execution of Operation Midnight Hammer. These Airmen out of @Whiteman_AFB showed their exemplary dedication and skill."
Shortly after, at 17:08 UTC on the same day, Alford expressed appreciation for his colleagues who supported the initiative. He wrote: "Thanks to @RepDonDavis, @RepTonyGonzales, @RepJohnCarter, @RepSamGraves, & @RepCiscomani for partnering with me on this important initiative."

Mark Alford began serving as the representative for Missouri’s 4th district in Congress in 2023 after succeeding Vicky Hartzler. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1988).
