Today, Congressman Mark Alford of Missouri's 4th District released a statement following the passage of H.R. 4016, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026 by the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill allocates $831.5 billion to fund the Department of Defense with aims to enhance American military strength, improve efficiency within the department, secure borders, and support troops and their families.

Congressman Alford stated, "Our defense appropriations bill, H.R. 4016, isn’t just policy—it’s a commitment to strength." He emphasized that House Republicans are ensuring well-equipped troops and maintaining military dominance while prioritizing readiness and providing pay raises across the board.

Alford serves on the House Appropriations Committee and represents two military installations in Missouri's Fourth District: Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base.

H.R. 4016 focuses on enhancing America's military superiority through investments in advanced aircraft like F-35s and F-47s, modernizing nuclear triad components such as the B-21 Raider, supporting unmanned systems development, investing in national security space initiatives including missile warning systems, allocating funds for missile defense programs under Golden Dome efforts, preserving current fighter jets while developing next-generation technologies, fostering innovation through various defense units' funding.

For troop welfare and family support measures include a basic pay increase effective January 1st next year along with improvements aimed at quality-of-life factors like reducing frequent relocations saving significant costs annually.
