The University of Missouri men's golf team is set to begin play at the 2025 SEC Championship on Wednesday morning. The event will take place at Sea Island Golf Club, with tee times starting at 7 a.m. Central Time.
The championship format consists of three days and 54 holes of stroke play. Following this, the top eight teams in the standings will move on to match play. The quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, April 26, while the championship match will be held on Sunday, April 27. The final round will be broadcast live on SEC Network, and Saturday's semifinal can be viewed on SEC Network+.
Sea Island Golf Club is recognized as one of the leading golf venues in the country. Its Seaside Course, which hosts the PGA TOUR's McGladrey Classic, is a par-70 layout measuring 7,005 yards.
This year's field includes 16 teams, featuring several highly ranked programs—three are currently in the top three nationally, six in the top ten, and ten within the top twenty.
Missouri is participating in its twelfth SEC Championship since joining the conference in 2012. Since the league adopted a combined stroke play and match play format, Missouri has reached the quarterfinals three times: in 2017, 2022, and 2023.
During the current season, freshman Trent Mierl leads Missouri with a stroke average of 72.37 over ten tournaments. Junior Virgilio Paz follows with an average of 72.76; Veikka Viskari averages 73.58; and Mattias Varjun averages 73.85.
Missouri secured one tournament victory this season at the Tiger Intercollegiate, where Mattias Varjun also won the individual title. Across all events this year, Missouri golfers have achieved ten top-10 finishes; Mierl leads with three such performances.
