Trent Mierl, a freshman on the University of Missouri men's golf team, has been named to the SEC All-Freshman Team for the 2024-25 season. The Southeastern Conference announced the honor on Friday.
Mierl becomes only the second Missouri player to earn this recognition since the university joined the SEC in 2012. The last Tiger to receive this accolade was Euan Walker during the 2013-14 season.
As a freshman, Mierl led his team in stroke average with a 72.39 mark. He is the first Missouri freshman to do so during its time in the SEC. Mierl was named SEC Freshman of the Week twice—once after finishing third at the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational in his collegiate debut and again following a seventh-place finish at The Hootie at Bulls Bay, where he recorded a season-best nine-under 207.
During his rookie year, Mierl had three top-10 finishes and played 12 rounds under par.
In addition to Mierl's recognition, Bubba Chapman was selected for the league's Community Service Team. According to the conference announcement, "Chapman led the team's community service efforts during the 2024-25 season, most notably spending a week during his winter break volunteering at a local middle school, putting on golf clinics during physical education classes."
