Incoming Mizzou freshman Reese Roberts has also been named to the three-member U.S. team. The Toyota Junior Golf World Cup brings together national teams of golfers aged 18 and under from around the world each summer in Japan. The tournament began in 1992 and has featured future major champions such as Trevor Immelman, Hideki Matsuyama, Louis Oosthuizen, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, Scottie Scheffler, Charl Schwartzel, Cameron Smith, Henrik Stenson and Danny Willett.
Millican becomes the second coach from Missouri to lead Team USA at this event. Mark Leroux previously served as head coach in 2014 when Team USA finished as runner-up. Team USA has won nine titles in the championship’s 30-year history, with its most recent win in 2017.
Millican recently completed his second season with Missouri and his 24th year as a Division I head coach. He has won eight conference titles over his career and led teams to NCAA Regionals on 19 occasions and NCAA Finals eight times.
Roberts, who is from Dallas, will begin his freshman year at Missouri in the 2025-26 academic year. In 2024 he became the youngest winner of the Texas State Amateur Championship since its inception 115 years ago.
Lorenzo Rodriguez (Wake Forest signee) and Brooks Simmons (Texas signee) round out Team USA's roster for this year's competition.
The format includes four days of stroke play totaling 72 holes. Each nation fields three players per round with two scores counting toward the team total each day. Other countries participating are England, France, South Africa, Morocco, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Colombia and Chile.
