The University of Missouri women's tennis team split a doubleheader in Louisiana on Sunday, March 30. The Tigers, ranked No. 58 nationally, fell to No. 6 LSU with a score of 4-0 before securing a 4-0 victory against Southeastern Louisiana later the same day. Missouri's record now stands at 12-10 overall and 2-9 in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.

In their first match against LSU, Missouri lost the doubles point after dropping matches at No. 2 and No. 3 positions by identical scores of 6-0. Junior Andrea Artimedi and freshman Korina Roso were tied at 2-2 in the top doubles spot when their match was left unfinished.

During singles play, graduate student Lailaa Bashir faced the country's No. 50-ranked singles player but her match was abandoned at 5-7, 0-1. Roso led her opponent on court three before that contest also went unfinished, as did Gian Octa's match on court four.

Against Southeastern Louisiana, Missouri started strong by clinching the doubles point. Artimedi and Octa posted a quick win (6-1), while senior Mary Brumfield and Roso secured victory on court one to seal the opening point.

Roso continued her form into singles with a straight-set win (6-2, 6-1) on court two. Bashir and freshman Zoe Lazar also picked up wins in straight sets on courts one and three respectively. Other matches were not completed but Missouri held leads in each.

Head coach Bianca Turati commented: "Unfortunately, we had to pull out a few players due to sickness today. We competed hard in singles against LSU. We won against SELU even though the conditions were tough to play in, and it was very hot and humid. The team did well, though, pulling out the win after a long day."

Next weekend will see Missouri travel for SEC road contests against South Carolina (April 4) and Georgia (April 6). Updates about Mizzou Tennis can be found at MUTigers.com or through their social media channels on Facebook ("Mizzou Tennis"), X (@Mizzou_Tennis), and Instagram ("Mizzou.Tennis").
