The Missouri Tigers women's basketball team lost to Vanderbilt 100-59 on Sunday at Mizzou Arena. Senior point guard De'Myla Brown led the Tigers with 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists, converting five of six free throws. Ten different players scored for Missouri during the game.
Missouri's offense started with senior forward Laniah Randle and Brown combining for five early points. The teams traded baskets in the first quarter before Vanderbilt took a lead with four minutes remaining in the period. Sophomore guard Abbey Schreake hit a three-pointer and junior guard Ashton Judd added a layup as time expired in the quarter, but Missouri trailed 23-14 going into the second.
In the second quarter, Missouri's defense held Vanderbilt scoreless for four minutes while going on a 5-0 run. Judd and Slaughter each made three-pointers to bring Missouri closer. Despite out-rebounding Vanderbilt 18-13 and getting more bench production in the first half (14 points to four), Missouri was behind 44-26 at halftime.
Randle began the third quarter with an offensive rebound and put-back layup. After Vanderbilt extended its lead, sophomore power forward Hilke Feldrappe made her first three-pointer of the game. Brown closed out the third quarter by hitting a last-second three-pointer; Missouri trailed 74-42 heading into the fourth.
Brown continued to lead offensively in the final ten minutes, scoring seven of Missouri’s 17 fourth-quarter points, but Vanderbilt maintained its advantage throughout. Overall, Missouri out-rebounded Vanderbilt 37-31.
Before tipoff, Mizzou recognized its four graduating seniors: Brown, Randle, Angleique Ngalakulondi, and Nyah Wilson. Head coach Robin Pingeton was also honored for achieving her 250th win with the program.
