Six wrestlers from the University of Missouri will compete at the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals in Geneva, Ohio, this weekend. The events begin with freestyle U23 preliminaries and the full U20 Freestyle Trials on Saturday, May 31. The tournament concludes Sunday, June 1, with quarterfinals through finals for the U23 Nationals.

Five of the six athletes will represent Tiger Style Wrestling Club, including two making their club debut at this event. Winners of the U20 tournament will earn a place on the U20 World Team and advance to compete at the U20 World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, scheduled for August 18-24, 2025.

Four Missouri wrestlers are set to participate in the U20 World Team Trials: Mack Mauger (57kg), Seth Mendoza (61kg), Danny Heiser (74kg), and Aeoden Sinclair (86kg). Mauger, Mendoza, and Sinclair will compete under Tiger Style’s banner. Heiser will represent Askren Wrestling Academy and be coached by Mizzou alumnus Ben Askren.

Mauger placed third at 57kg in last month’s US Open in Las Vegas. Heiser finished fifth at 74kg while Sinclair reached the finals at 86kg but did not secure first place. Mendoza did not compete in that event.

Josh Edmond (70kg) and Jarrett Stoner (125kg) will represent Tiger Style in the U23 Nationals competition. Edmond is from Detroit and previously won Junior Nationals in 2020 at 65kg; however, he was unable to attend a world championship that year due to its cancellation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Stoner hails from Rockwall, Texas, where he earned a Class 6A State Title in high school and has won four college tournaments so far. After his redshirt freshman season wrestling at 285 pounds for Missouri, Stoner recently went 5-2 at the U20 US Open but missed out on placing among the top eight.

The entire tournament can be streamed live on FloWrestling with a subscription starting May 29 through May 31.
