Two athletes from the University of Missouri swimming and diving program have received weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference. Collier Dyer was named SEC Men's Diver of the Week, while Luke Nebrich earned SEC Men's Freshman of the Week recognition, according to an announcement by the league office on Tuesday.
Nebrich, in his first season with the Tigers, has made a strong impression. The Lexington, North Carolina native won three events during Missouri's double-dual meet against McKendree and Missouri State over the weekend. He finished first in the men's 50 freestyle with a time of 19.79 seconds and took gold in the men's 100 freestyle at 43.36 seconds. Nebrich also contributed to Missouri's win in the men's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:25.47.
Dyer, who is from Littleton, Colorado, continued his success by sweeping both men's diving events during the same meet. The junior All-American scored 380.10 to win the men's 1-meter diving event and posted a score of 404.48 in men's 3-meter diving.
The latest honor adds to Dyer's previous accolades this season, including being named SEC Men's Co-Diver of the Week on October 29. Last spring, he was recognized as a Second-Team All-American after finishing tenth in men's 1-meter at the NCAA Championships. Dyer also secured second place in platform diving at last year's SEC Championships and competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.
Missouri's diving team will next compete at the Air Force Diving Invitational in Colorado Springs from January 30 to February 1. Both swimming and diving squads are scheduled for the SEC Championships from February 18-22 in Athens, Georgia.
