The University of Missouri men's golf team began its participation in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, finishing the first round in fourth place with a combined score of seven-under par.

Junior Veikka Viskari led the Tigers, shooting a five-under 67. This score was one stroke short of his collegiate best, which he achieved earlier in the week during play in Michigan. Viskari made seven birdies during his round, including each of the last three holes, and is currently tied for fourth place individually.

Sophomore Trent Mierl finished with a two-under 70 after recording five birdies and stands in 12th place. Senior Virgilio Paz also had five birdies and posted a one-under 71, placing him 16th overall.

Other contributors for Missouri included freshman Reese Roberts at one-over par, junior Bradley Mulder at five-over, and sophomore Bubba Chapman also at five-over.

As a team, Missouri trails defending champion Notre Dame (-12), Michigan (-9), and UNC Wilmington (-8). The Tigers are tied with Michigan State at -7 through 18 holes.

The tournament continues Monday morning with tee times starting at 9 a.m. CT.
