Rep. Mark Alford, U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, recently posted several updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account regarding agricultural funding, local events, and potential impacts of a government shutdown.

On September 26, 2025, Alford wrote: "Proud to advocate for $3 million for the Ag Animal Genetics Facility at Mizzou, secured through @HouseAppropsGOP committee-passed bills. This investment strengthens Missouri’s ag research and keeps our farmers and ranchers on the cutting edge. ".

Later that day, he extended greetings to the University of Missouri community by posting: "Wishing Mizzou a happy & safe homecoming weekend! #MIZ" on September 26, 2025.

In another post on September 26, 2025, Alford addressed federal employees in the Kansas City area about possible disruptions due to an impending government shutdown: "To all the 30,000 plus federal employees in the Kansas City area, many of you living in the current 4th congressional district and many living in the “new” fourth under the Missouri first map…. Please be advised that if a government shutdown happens on October 1, it will be a".

Alford has represented Missouri's 4th District since succeeding Vicky Hartzler in Congress in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1988.
