Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on October 1, 2025, criticizing Senate Democrats over a government shutdown and their stance on healthcare for undocumented immigrants.

In his first tweet at 15:28 UTC, Alford wrote: " Day 1 of Washington Democrats’ Shutdown. @HouseGOP did its job, Senate Democrats refused to put you first. The American people deserve better than their representatives fighting for $1.5 trillion in reckless spending & free healthcare for illegal aliens."

Shortly after, at 15:45 UTC, he shared a link without additional commentary: "https://t.co/2Ia03uq1Iu"

Later that day at 17:11 UTC, Alford posted another statement challenging Democratic claims regarding healthcare policy: " SHUTDOWN FACT CHECK: Democrats are lying when they say they’re not trying to give free health care to illegal aliens Their own bill repeals protections that block taxpayer-funded benefits. @HouseGOP didn’t make this up. It’s right here: https://t.co/rxDckkURVh"

Mark Alford has served as the representative for Missouri's 4th District since 2023, succeeding Vicky Hartzler. He was born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently resides in Lake Winnebago. Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
