Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to highlight local culture and comment on ongoing federal government issues.

On October 7, 2025, Alford posted about a local artist’s impact on his district, writing, " Welcome to Concordia, Missouri — the Patriotic Mural City of America!

Right here in Lafayette County, artist Ray Harvey has turned this small town into a celebration of our nation’s history. From Rosie the Riveter to Benjamin Franklin to Washington crossing the Delaware, https://t.co/jpvyu6UhLY".

A day later, Alford addressed the ongoing federal government shutdown, which he attributed to Senate leadership. On October 8, 2025, he stated, "Missourians are tired of the Schumer Shutdown.

Day 8 and counting. While we’re working, the Senate’s stalling.

@HouseGOP passed a clean CR. The Left is scheming and grandstanding.

Time to stop the political games and get America back open. https://t.co/nFi2OeSVfC".

Later that same day, he continued his criticism of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, posting, "Day 8 of America held hostage. The Schumer Shutdown continues because of pride, arrogance, and fear.

@HouseGOP did our job weeks ago. It’s time for Chuck Schumer to stop worrying about a primary and start worrying about the American people. https://t.co/NLgTVspDKl".

Alford has served in Congress since 2023, succeeding Vicky Hartzler as the representative for Missouri’s 4th district. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963, Alford currently resides in Lake Winnebago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988.
