Rep. Mark Alford, who represents Missouri’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing legislative reform and ongoing government shutdown concerns.
On November 6, 2025, Alford expressed support for Senator Josh Hawley and advocated for new legislation aimed at restricting financial activities by lawmakers. He wrote, "Agreed, @SenHawleyPress! We must pass our PELOSI Act to END day trading by Members of Congress and restore the American people's trust in their elected representatives."
Later that same day, Alford criticized Democratic lawmakers over a federal government shutdown. In his post he stated, "Radical Democrats shut down the government to cater to their Marxist base. Now, the #SchumerShutdown is putting YOUR ability to see family for Thanksgiving at risk!"
Continuing his commentary on November 7, 2025, Alford addressed the duration and impact of the shutdown: "Day 38 of the Schumer Shutdown and the damage grows. Stop hurting America to protect your pride!"
Alford has served as Missouri’s 4th District representative since 2023 after succeeding Vicky Hartzler. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin (graduated in 1988).
