Northwest accepting nominations for ‘influential women’

Northwest Missouri State University is again seeking nominations to honor and recognize the achievements of some of its most influential women on campus.

The Northwest community is invited to nominate students, faculty and staff at the University who have positively influenced lives and made outstanding contributions to the University community. Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, by visiting https://forms.gle/GyJmT422UR2QHXHb7.

“The Influential Women Awards are an opportunity when we can honor the achievements of women who are willing to share their stories to influence and inspire our students and employees at Northwest,” Dr. Justin Mallett, the University’s assistant vice president of diversity and inclusion, said. “Celebrating women’s stories not only is inspiring and allows our community to see how Northwest women have been leading inside and outside of the classroom but provides understanding of who inspired them to get where they are today.”

The University will honor its “Influential Women of Northwest” with a reception, recognition and panel discussion, co-hosted by its Office of the President and Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Agricultural Learning Center.

National Women’s History Month was founded in 1987 when the U.S. Congress declared that it would be celebrated each March, and a presidential proclamation is issued annually to honor the achievements of American women. The national theme for this year’s commemoration is “Celebrating Women’s Stories.”
