Members of the public are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the Columbia Regional Airport (COU) Master Plan on Monday, Sept. 30. The event will feature two sessions and offer virtual options for those unable to attend in person.
The first session will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Columbia Regional Airport Terminal Building Lobby, located at 11350 S. Airport Drive, Columbia. The second session is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Walton Building, located at 300 S. Providence Road, Columbia.
An Airport Master Plan is a comprehensive study that evaluates the short-, medium-, and long-term development needs to meet future aviation demands at COU. The last Master Plan was completed in 2009.
"The Airport Master Plan looks to understand the issues, opportunities and constraints unique to the Columbia Regional Airport," states the press release. "The Master Plan process will include evaluating the existing capacity of the airport, considering the impacts of aviation trends and identifying future needs of the airport."
The assessment aims to develop alternatives aligned with COU's goals and those of the community it serves. Once alternatives are selected, a capital improvement plan and implementation plan will be prepared to guide future improvements and growth at COU.
Previous open house input sessions were held on Jan. 11, 2024.
More information about virtual attendance options is available on the COU Master Plan page.
