The Columbia Regional Airport has announced the opening of Tailwinds Market in its terminal, offering travelers enhanced food and beverage options. The market utilizes Amazon's technology, allowing customers to make purchases by swiping a card or using a mobile payment app, then selecting items and leaving.
Airport Manager Michael Parks commented on the new addition: “We pride ourselves on an easy and convenient experience at COU. This new upgraded offering ensures our passengers not only save drive time when choosing to fly local but also have the amenities they desire when traveling.”
Tailwinds Market provides various products including sandwiches, salads, snacks, beverages, ice cream, sunglasses, phone chargers, personal care items, and fresh-made coffee. It also features a seating area with TVs and free Wi-Fi near the gates for departing passengers. Future plans include adding kitchen space for a hot grill to expand dining options.
Jackson Brothers operates the market as part of their ongoing partnership with the airport. Billy Dearing, general manager of Jackson Brothers stated: “We are thrilled to be opening this new location at the airport. We are passionate about meeting the needs of our customers with unique offerings and elevating the experience for those flying COU.”
Located post-security in the terminal, Tailwinds Market is open 24/7.
