Mizzou coach Eliah Drinkwitz discusses team updates at SEC Football Kickoff

Mizzou football head coach Eliah Drinkwitz and players Daylan Carnell, Connor Tollison, and Zion Young represented the Missouri Tigers at the SEC Football Kickoff in Atlanta. The event took place at the College Football Hall of Fame and Omni Atlanta Hotel, marking the final day of the Southeastern Conference's annual preseason media event. Coach Drinkwitz and his players participated in segments on ESPN and SEC Network platforms such as "SEC This Morning," "SEC Now," and "Marty & McGee." Drinkwitz's conversation with Marty Smith and Ryan McGee will be featured in a special episode of "Marty & McGee: Talkin' Season" scheduled for August 11 or 12.

Coach Drinkwitz was among four coaches to address the media on Thursday. He discussed various topics, including the team's quarterback competition. He mentioned Sam Horn as a dual-threat player who has shown great maturity despite being a type one diabetic. Beau Pribula was praised for his work ethic and leadership skills, while Matt Zollers was noted for his impressive throwing ability.

Horn's selection by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB Draft was also highlighted. Despite this achievement, Horn remains committed to playing football at Mizzou. Coach Drinkwitz expressed pride in Horn's accomplishments both on the field and academically.

Transfer safety Jalen Catalon received praise from Coach Saban during scouting reports with other head coaches. Catalon's instincts and understanding of offensive strategies were emphasized as key strengths he brings to Mizzou.

Transfer running back Ahmad Hardy was described as an outstanding young man with strong connections to former colleagues of Coach Drinkwitz. Hardy's enthusiasm for fishing and horseback riding was shared alongside his athletic abilities.

On earning respect within the SEC, Coach Drinkwitz stated that external opinions do not influence their mindset or motivation. Instead, they focus on trust, belief in each other, brotherhood, competitiveness, development of trust, respect within their team dynamics while having fun together.
