Senator Eric Schmitt, a U.S. Senator from Missouri, has recently addressed constituents on social media regarding legislative priorities and disaster recovery efforts.

On August 7, 2025, Schmitt posted that "Senate Republicans are delivering on President Trump’s America First agenda. We’re securing the border, cutting waste, fraud, and abuse, and putting hardworking Americans first—and we’re just getting started."

The following day, August 8, 2025, Schmitt used his platform to inform those affected by recent storms about available federal assistance. He wrote: "If you or a loved one were affected by the storms and believe you qualify for FEMA assistance, don’t forget to apply by Tuesday, August 26th. 2/2"

In another post on the same day, he expressed gratitude for federal support in disaster relief efforts: "Thank you to Acting @fema Administrator Richardson for granting St. Louis an extension to apply for individual assistance. Following May 16th’s devastating storms local, state, and federal officials have been hard at work getting affected community members connected to"

These posts follow severe weather events in Missouri earlier in the year that caused significant damage across several communities. In response to these disasters, government agencies at all levels have coordinated relief efforts to assist those impacted.

FEMA provides financial aid and resources for individuals recovering from federally declared disasters such as major storms. Deadlines are set for applications to ensure timely distribution of aid.
