Missouri wrestling earns home victory over Arizona State

The University of Missouri wrestling team secured its second consecutive home win, defeating Arizona State 21-15 on Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers improved their season record to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 competition, while the Sun Devils dropped to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in conference matches.

Freshman Gage Walker narrowly missed an upset at 125 pounds, falling 5-4 to Richard Figueroa, who is ranked second nationally and is the reigning national champion. Missouri then won three of the next four bouts before intermission. Redshirt sophomore Kade Moore earned a major decision over No. 23 Julian Chlebove at 133 pounds, and No. 15 Josh Edmond added another major decision against Daniel Miranda at 141 pounds. Arizona State's Jesse Vasquez recorded a decision win over Zeke Seltzer at 149 pounds.

After the break, redshirt sophomore Cam Steed gave Missouri a boost with a victory by injury default at 165 pounds, extending the Tigers' lead to 17-6. Redshirt junior Joel Mylin followed with an 11-1 major decision over Javani Majoor after moving up to compete at 174 pounds. Arizona State closed out the dual with three straight decision victories.

The match concluded with Missouri taking wins in six of ten bouts, including four bonus-point victories that proved decisive.

Missouri will next face No. 20 West Virginia inside Mizzou Arena on Sunday, Jan. 20. The dual is scheduled for noon CT and will be available for streaming on UFC Fight Pass.
