U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt’s (R-MO) resolution honoring Missouri’s B-2 pilots and all servicemembers involved in Operation Midnight Hammer has passed the U.S. Senate with unanimous consent.
Schmitt recently visited Whiteman Air Force Base, which played a central role in the operation. The resolution specifically recognizes the base’s B-2 pilots and all personnel involved in the mission.
“Operation Midnight Hammer is a testament to the competence and bravery of the Air Force personnel at Whiteman Air Force Base and a clear demonstration of the lethality and unparalleled war-fighting capabilities of our military. The precision strikes decimated Iranian nuclear facilities and played a key role achieving a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. The brave men and women involved in this operation are heroes, and I am proud to see my resolution honoring their service and success pass the Senate,” said Senator Schmitt.
The resolution was co-sponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), David McCormick (R-PA), James Risch (R-ID), Rick Scott (R-FL), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Dan Sullivan (R-AK).
Operation Midnight Hammer took place on June 21, 2025. Seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base conducted nonstop flights lasting 37 hours to deploy Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear facilities. The airstrikes were coordinated with the launch of more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack missiles from a U.S. submarine targeting Isfahan, another significant Iranian nuclear site.
