Senator Eric Schmitt, a member of the U.S. Senate representing Missouri, addressed concerns about political violence and the role of speech and elections in American democracy in a series of posts on October 22, 2025.

In one post, Schmitt stated, "The Left can't get a grasp on the idea that political means in America are achieved through speech and elections — not violence." (October 22, 2025).

Later the same day, Schmitt referenced an incident involving Michael Knowles, a conservative commentator, writing, "In 2023, @michaeljknowles was the target of a dangerous and coordinated politically-motivated attack by Antifa radicals. Next week, he'll testify before my @SenJudiciaryGOP subcommittee hearing about the rise in left-wing political violence. It's time we expose the truth." (October 22, 2025).

Schmitt also provided a link for further information, "Read more here: https://t.co/FgpE7d9YFP" (October 22, 2025).

The upcoming subcommittee hearing referenced by Schmitt is expected to address these issues, with testimony from individuals such as Michael Knowles.
