Senator Eric Schmitt, U.S. Senator representing Missouri, made several posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account on October 22, 2025, addressing national political issues and recent events.

In a post published at midnight UTC, Schmitt shared about his visit to the White House with former President Donald Trump. He wrote: "Great day at the White House with President Trump https://t.co/qXkxtIalpv" (October 22, 2025).

Later that day, Schmitt criticized Democratic lawmakers over the ongoing government shutdown. In his post from 17:07 UTC, he stated: "Democrats aren't hiding from it--they're using the government shutdown to play political games at the expense of American families.

Hardworking men and women missing paychecks & families struggling to get food on the table is worth the 'leverage' to them. Shameful. https://t.co/43qMWjLG6L" (October 22, 2025).

That evening, Schmitt commented on public reactions following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. At 20:05 UTC he posted: "After Charlie Kirk was assassinated, radical leftists celebrated his death. This evil must be called out, and it is not a both sides issue. https://t.co/aLqW2RnDCm" (October 22, 2025).

Government shutdowns in the United States have historically resulted in furloughs for federal employees and interruptions to public services as Congress negotiates funding bills.

Charlie Kirk was a prominent conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA prior to his assassination.
