The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility has announced that manual residential curbside recycling collection will resume on an every-other-week schedule starting March 18. This decision comes in conjunction with the recent implementation of the city's automated trash collection system.

City Manager De’Carlon Seewood expressed enthusiasm for the resumption of the recycling service, stating, "We are excited to be resuming this service within weeks of the implementation of our automated trash collection system." The City will inform customers about routes and other relevant details ahead of the March 18 restart.

Customers are advised that on alternating weeks, they can place their mixed containers and mixed fibers curbside on their regular weekly scheduled refuse pickup day. The collection routes will remain unchanged, and customers with email addresses on file will receive information on accessing an interactive collection map at a later date.

The distribution of roll carts citywide commenced on January 29, with the automated residential curbside refuse collection system set to begin operation on March 4. For further information, individuals are encouraged to contact the City's Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489) or email [email protected].
