Rep. Mark Alford, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 4th district since 2023, addressed key national issues and commemorated Veterans Day in a series of posts on November 11, 2025.

In his first post on the day, Alford commented on ongoing government funding negotiations, writing: "After more than 40 days of America held hostage—the Schumer Shutdown is one step closer to ending. I look forward to swiftly passing this package to fund the government in the House to make sure federal agencies can once again work on behalf of our constituents." (November 11, 2025).

Later that morning, he honored military service members with a message for Veterans Day: "Freedom isn’t free. It’s defended by the brave men and women who wear our nation’s uniform. Today we honor every American who served, sacrificed, and stood tall for this great nation. Happy Veterans Day!" (November 11, 2025).

That evening, Alford referenced an appearance on CNN where he discussed Affordable Care Act subsidies and government spending during the shutdown: "Joined CNN to set the record straight on ACA subsidies and the Schumer Shutdown. America deserves accountability — not to foot the bill for more blank checks to broken programs." (November 11, 2025).

Alford has represented Missouri’s 4th District since succeeding Vicky Hartzler in Congress in 2023. Born in Baytown, Texas in 1963 and currently residing in Lake Winnebago, Alford graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1988.
