Senator Eric Schmitt, U.S. Senator from Missouri, shared a series of posts on his official Twitter account addressing recent political developments and the designation of Antifa groups as terrorist organizations.
On November 12, 2025, Schmitt commented on actions taken by Democrats, stating: "Democrats folded right on schedule. Told you so."
The following day, November 13, 2025, Schmitt addressed the topic of Antifa in two separate tweets. In one post he wrote: "Antifa is not an 'idea.' It is a sophisticated, violent terrorist movement—and its network extends far beyond our borders. As I have outlined at length in the past, the Antifa violence we see on U.S. soil is driven by a global web of extremist groups." In another tweet posted at the same time, Schmitt stated: "Today, the State Department announced its plan to designate four violent Antifa cells as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. It's a major step in our fight against Antifa's terror network. I was proud to work with the administration to make it happen. This is a huge deal."
The State Department’s designation of certain groups as Foreign Terrorist Organizations marks an escalation in federal efforts to counter extremist violence linked to international networks. The decision follows ongoing debates about how best to address domestic extremism and transnational connections among militant groups.
Schmitt has previously been vocal about issues related to national security and extremism during his tenure as Missouri’s Attorney General before being elected to the Senate.
