Senator Eric Schmitt | U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt
Senator Eric Schmitt published a series of posts on November 13, 2025, outlining his views on the organizational structure and activities of Antifa, referencing recent reports and congressional testimony.
In one post, Senator Schmitt wrote: "You can read summaries of these terror cells in the report below. I'll share more details on this front in the days and weeks to come. Taking down these groups plays a key role in isolating U.S. Antifa from its global support network." (November 13, 2025).
He further described Antifa's operational methods: "Antifa operates as a decentralized, cell-based terror network. It has no identifiable 'leader.' But that's a feature, not a bug—an intentional structure employed by far-left terror movements since the Weather Underground. As @ShidelerK noted in a recent congressional testimony:" (November 13, 2025).
Schmitt also referenced specific tactics and infrastructure he attributes to Antifa: "This transnational network includes fundraising streams, encrypted servers, doxxing networks, safe houses and 'squats' to hide fugitives, training camps, and cross-border coordination for violent attacks. This, for example, is a segment from Europol's 2023 Terrorism Report:" (November 13, 2025).
The senator’s remarks echo longstanding debates about Antifa’s organization and threat level within U.S. domestic security discussions. Law enforcement agencies have characterized Antifa as lacking centralized leadership or formal membership structures but acknowledge its capacity for coordinated action through loosely affiliated groups.
Europol’s annual terrorism reports have documented trends in left-wing extremism across Europe but typically avoid characterizing all anti-fascist activism as terrorist activity or linking every group under one label.
Senator Eric Schmitt represents Missouri in the United States Senate.
