Julie McBee has been recognized as the Volunteer of the Month for March 2024 for her dedicated efforts in beautifying Columbia through the Adopt-A-Spot program. McBee's commitment to her community stands out as she devotes her time and energy to making Columbia a more beautiful place.
"I jumped in and took on a spot that had gotten quite overgrown with weeds and Bermuda grass," McBee shared, reflecting on her initial involvement in the program. Despite the challenges she faced, McBee tackled the task with determination, breaking down the 150-foot median into manageable sections. Her hard work paid off as she witnessed the garden flourish over time, bringing joy to both herself and the community.
McBee's spot holds special significance as it is dedicated to her husband's Kids Against Hunger COMO nonprofit organization, a cause close to her heart. She actively participates in packing food for local food banks and disaster relief efforts, both locally and internationally. Her altruistic nature shines through as she selflessly gives back to those in need.
"I am grateful to be able to give a little bit back to the community that I live in," McBee expressed humbly. Despite not seeking recognition, she finds genuine appreciation in the occasional acknowledgment she receives from passersby.
